Where did the name Manos Del Sol come from?
In one installment, there’s a mention of a group of shadow hunters from Brazil called Manos Del Sol. In the series, this was also translated as Men of the Sun – both written and spoken. However, while Men of the Sun is the intended meaning, Manos Del Sol actually translates to “Hands of the Sun.”
The guild’s founder, Athalos, drew inspiration from the overall concept of shadow hunters and their mission, naming the guild Hands of the Sun. He adopted Manos Del Sol as the guild’s name intentionally, based on the translation of Hands of the Sun, not as a direct reference to the name in the game.
He envisioned the guild as Hands of the Sun, symbolized by a blue tabard with a yellow sun insignia and golden edges, representing their guiding light and purpose.
While the Gabriel Knight series provided loose inspiration, the guild itself is entirely its own entity, with its unique identity and lore. The name serves as a nod to the series, but the guild stands apart as something original. Is Manos Del Sol a role-playing guild?
Yes and no. While the guild is loosely inspired by a role-playing game and is structured in a similar fashion, it’s not strictly a role-playing guild. Members are free to role play if they desire and have fun with it, however it’s not a requirement, nor does everyone role play.
We are more focused on building a strong community and friendships across a variety of games, and whether you choose to role play or not, the diversity of play makes the guild more fun and interesting, and is always welcomed.
